Natural wood wick
More delicate, crackling and comforting. Gently clean the ashes on the wooden wick (without allowing them to remain in the wax) before relighting the candle, so that it is about 1/8 inch from the wax to ensure a good combustion.IMPORTANT: Let it melt (each time you light it) all around the candle (minimum 2 hours) before putting it out. This will prevent tunneling, and prevent the wick from 'drowning'. Do not leave your candle burning for more than 4 hours. Psst: give the wooden wick time to set well each time you light it, as it works in a different way from a cotton wick. Relight the wick once or twice, in case it goes out. Don't worry: this is normal with this type of wick. And for the atmosphere it brings, it’s worth it!
Cotton wick
Easier to use, this natural wick provides a better olfactory rendering than a wooden wick, but without the “crackling” effect. Before each lighting, cut the wick ¼ inch from the wax to ensure adequate burning, without soot and to avoid any risk of fire.IMPORTANT: Let it melt (at each lighting) all around the candle (minimum 2 hours) before turning it off. This will prevent tunneling, and prevent the wick from 'drowning'. Do not leave your candle burning for more than 4 hours. By following these small steps, you will also ensure that your candle will last longer!
Even wax burning
For extended duration and adequate wax melting, be sure to burn your candle for a minimum of two hours per lighting (for 8oz formats). This is essential so that your candle does not “dig” and melts evenly. With these precautions, the wick of your candle will not become “drowned” with wax and will therefore be easier to light.
